Here i was reading this somewhere else on the site, was wondering what people think.

"This is a tricky one, which is harder? MCing or Djing?"

At a high level i reckon DJin is easy harder - turntablism etc, but at a low level MCin is, i couldn't do that shit. Especially when ya do it off the cuff like, shame u don't get many MCs doing that in makina coz its too fast for em to come up with any thing meaning full - they just come out with crap a lot of the time - good to get you buzzin tho

djin is much more of a skill i think, u av to learn how to do it, u cnt jus do it quickly, but as for mcin i think sum ppl jus av the rite voice for it nd sound wicked from the start. the dj is more important tho if u ask me cos u cnt av a rave without dj's nd no tunes but u can easily av a rave wthout mc's, but the mc's do giv u sumthin extra when they are alongside dj's.imho

I hear this alot, not just off here, but everywhere, "you cant have a rave without a dj but you can have a rave without an mc".... this isn't true. Trying putting a rave on without mc's and see how many people turn up. the event wouldn't last 2mins. YOU NEED THEM BOTH TO MAKE A RAVE.

Going back to the question. I think both are equally as hard as each other.

with DJ'n: you need to have an ear for the music, being able to get the best choons without anyone else finding them out, knowing when to bring the next choon in, knowing what choons to play to the crowd, at what point do you change the choon b'cos the crowds loosing interest, always keeping up to date with the scene. Its a full time job... and not to mention general beatmatching skills.

with mc'n: you have to have a unique voice, 100's of unique lyrics that are relevant to the music they are for, timing, energy to keep the crowd motivated, a character to keep them entertained, and the determination to keep going for a full hour without the crowd loosing interest with ya.... ohhh and never let your feet leave the ground, you'll loose alot of fans!

both jobs are equally hard. but both are equally rewarding when done right!!
