to be able to scratch properly you need technics or vestax mate and stanton needles are always the way to go.
other than that theres a wicked book u can buy (i used it to help me thru lots even tho my mates took the piss)
heres a link to where u can get it but i got mine in hmv i think
http://www.htfr.com/more-info/?catno=MR85250

Righto matey I will try & share some of my experience with the old scratchin.
If you got a record that jumps like a f**ker, its either down to it being a sh*t pressing or your deck settings (ie weights, height of the arm) or the layout of the record (samples being too far apart, long gaps that can be visually seen on the vinyl).
Play about with the settings or put a sticker on both sides of the centre of the record, making sure its over the hole (usually tightens the vinyl up stopping it moving from side to side).
I wouldnt put 5 pence piecs on the cart or any bollox like that, its ok when just playing choons in an environment where the Dj base is bouncin about but not for scratchin, some may disagree but try for yourself.
Other than that just practice like a mad c**t.
Peace.

Buy some Shure scratch needles if you are 100% sure you want to scratch in your set, they're perfect and stop jumping etc but they dont last long, Ortofon Concordes are the next best thing(best in general) and last a fair bit longer, search google for scratch tutorials and there's a few good ones on there, there is also a scratch DVD by DJ Q-Bert which is pretty good. I can scratch but I chose not to in my sets because its all been done before.
Dont ever buy anything from HTFR(someone suggested earlier), they're well overpriced and their customer service is shit. If you want any equipment www.decks.co.uk (Sapphires) is best.
hope this helps.

If you's think HTFR are bad then you's don't wanna even consider ordering from DMF. They are a bunch of thieving cunts. I could write a book on the experiences me and some of my mates have had with them. Seriously folks, don't order. They advertise records as originals, then send you bootlegs. They charge you for records you didn't even order and when you complain to them they call you a liar and say they sent you them because you ordered them. If I'm ever in Birmingham near where their shop is I'm gonna put a brick through their window then torch the place with them in it.....
I'm saying no more,
JTS.

they have mp3 samples but only of new tunes.so i suggested they get mp3 samples sorted for all the old tunes thay had in stock cos theres some wicked old tunes but if u dont know the names and u cant hear it wot u meant to do
TO HARD DJ : Your right i,ve had crap experience now lol.I ordered two records and some vinyl envelopes and they,ve sent them all out as seperate packages and tried to charge me postage 3 times (which is expensive on next day delivery).they have refuneded the difference so its sorted now but the lad on the fone was a tit about it.

The 1 I think Nitro used was the same as the 1 Attack used........not sure of the title of the record but it's on Bounce records which was an old happy hardcore label. If I remember correctly the 2nd tune in on the b side is just scratch samples. There's also some decent scratch samples on 1 of the Jolly Roger tunes. Think it's by DJ FX and again the 2nd tune on the b side is all scratch samples................has bits out of The Mask and that ;) ("For my 1st trick I'm going to do a little something for you son............")
