The Mcewans Has Always Been A Good Venue The Hanger Should Never Have Left. Hopefully This Will Be The Start Of Something Big!!

How Dare People Slag Off Hardcore Its Where Rave Began. Look How Big The Likes Of Hardcore Heaven, Bonkers, Slammin Vinyl Are. Even The Big Festivals Have Hardcore Arenas. Goodgreef, Gods Kitchen, Sundissential Etc Etc....... All Hardcore Based Not Makina!

Yep its good to see some hardcore in the north east and not *soley* Makina. Nuff respect. Ill be there.

Good to see some open minded people about, I was beginning to think everyone in the North East was Spanish :D .

Theres room for Makina, Hardcore, German style etc etc at every event if you ask me.

Look at when the N/E was at it's peak, they were always varied in terms of music policy, unfortunately of late, this has not been the case & you can very often play "spot how many this or that choon is played". I think you get what I'm saying.

I know alot of people like that I suppose so pointless fixing what is not broken, although more events springing up providing more choice for people is great & a far better situation to be in than the current same old. More parties will most certainly be concieved in the near future but at present its going certainly in the right direction so bear with it!

It's down to everyone to show their support & actually attend these events rather than bitch & moan like a tart behind a PC monitor like some people seem to be getting off on doing, but hey, who cares what a small minority think when the overall are loveing things at the mo!

Peace,

Ty. :D

yeah i think all styles should get a chance then you can really see what people like, at the moment it all seems to be makina, would like to hear other stuff aswell just to get an idea of what is out ther,
still though think makina is wicked but its also to hear new and up comin stuff

too right mate - ive bin raving since the days of the collo, after dark an all that - the scene at the moment has been a bit stale. what hav we had? monkey - same week in week out - hangar - makina, makina

weve had nowt new to look forward to - this nite has the lot well worth the money, a bit of diff styles and a bit of effort.

yeah think it will be good, used to listen to bonkers with the likes of scott brown on years ago and thort it was quality b4 i heard rave, quality to see the big names in the north east, even so, i believe rave in general is better, it just seems to have sumthin extra, nd with mc's and i think its even beeta, get the crowd goin and lift ur buzz even higher

fact, the powerhouse under 18s gets 1200 youngins in who go there for the spanish music (although they call them monkey choons) but as soon as dj mayhem comes on with his new style hardcore type music the youngins start leaving and dont like it. the new ravers of today are all being brought up on monkey choons and nothing else, hardcore has been dead for years in the northeast and will stay burried

Well hardcore has only just begun coming back.

With no coverage in the north east and young people being fairly cliquey and close minded what do you expect?

Hardcore Land is a step forward in introducing them too it. At the end of the day Hardcore has the same sort of energy and sound as Makina so I don't see why they won't go for it.

Hardcore Land Is Aimed At The Over 18s Not The Under 18s So It Wont Be Introducing Them To It Will It. Simple Fact How Can You Expect To Put A Hardcore Night On In The Middle Of The Northeast When The Northeast Hasn't Had A Hardcore Night For Years N Years And Hardly No One Listens To It. Have You Ever Been To Oasis When Zippy Or Trixy Starts To Play That Mad New Style Hardcore? 95% Of People Hate It And Fuck Off The Dancefloor. (that Is Not Slagging Off Zippy Or Trixy, Just Commenting About There Style Of Choonage). If It Works I Will Come Back On Here And Apologise Until Then Face Facts.

Dont really know what to say to the above???

I must have been hearing Spanish when they were rocking to Hardcore at the Powerhouse, Monkey, NRG House etc.

How bizarre!

Under 18's are the same everywhere you go though.. I used to be resident at a successfull under 18's night up here so I know how their minds work with regards to music. You have to play what they know otherwise they are not interested. In the Happy Hardcore days if you didnt play anthems like Shooting Star, Discoland etc then they werent interested. The vast majority of kids that age are not open minded enough to appreciate something different to the norm... so comparing powerhouse under 18s to Hardcoreland is a bad example I think. Dont forget there is also a Makina room playing 'monkey tunes' at Hardcoreland, I think its going to be evry successfull.

Also dont forget that the reason the Happy Hardcore scene declined in the first place was due to boredom... if you bought a tape pack from a big event all the dj's played the same old HH anthems and everyone became bored. The NE is going the same way with Makina.. yeah the kids will happily buy their monkey tapes with all the same stuff on them.. but the older ravers will become bored. Doesnt really bother me, I love it all but I think people are too quick to shoot new stuff down, it's what keeps things fresh.

Mark, i've been doing under 18's events aswell as normal events for 8 years now and things never change. Regardless to who's on the dex at the end you need to bear in mind that at the end of the day, they are all under 18 years of age. the majority of them have curfews and need to get back home. I know this due to the fact I was a kid myself once! Seeing as tho you still are one and still go to under 18's events I wouldnt expect you to understand what the rave music culture is like outside of the north east.

Its HARDCORE mate!!

Granted happy hardcore died in the north east years ago (partly because of small minded attitudes like yours!!) BUT... hardcore today is not a thing like hardcore was then. Its a brand new sound now with top quality music being constantly produced. Give your head a shake and have another listen and I'm sure you'll come around.

Hardcore Land is gonna be a quality night. If makina is all people like then there is a room totally dedicated to it with some of the north easts best supporting the sound. There is also going to be a few makina sets in the main room.

Stop winging about something fresh. Its very rare something like this happens here. Just appreciate it while you have the chance!!

nuff said!!

Well Said Above! Whats The Point In Slagging Off A Event That Hasnt Even Happened?

It Might Be Called "hardcore Land" But Look At The Line Up Theres More Makina Dj's Than Hardcore Even Force & Styles And Obsession Are Doing Old School Sets. Its A Good Mix Of Hardcore & Spanish, Old And New Plus The Powerhouse Room. To Suggest People Wont Like It Is A Joke.

I Think A Few People Will Be Eating There Own Words.............. :d

markmayhem
22nd March 2004, 01:39 AM
I'm quite sure of that!!

Consider the standard of the event. 3 Arena's covering every style of rave, some of the best DJ's & Mc's known to man, Outdoor funfair......etc,etc!!!

The list goes on! Nothing has ever been done like this in the North East that I know of.

It will be a totally unforgetable night!!

thats cos they've got no choice

pac man

its the djs that give them the choice - they play the music. agree?

the hangar is run by scott - he imports makina and sells it in his shop so he is goin to promote it as much as possible - because the hangar has been goin for so long thats what people have been used to - theyve had no choice!

powerhouse has breathed a bit of life into the scene with a mix of different styles - oasis gives a bit of everything too - why stick to one sound when you can have variety - hardcore lands got the lot.

like haston said its good to have something fresh

HARDCORE LAND... THE EVENT

Its good to see plenty of interest and debate for the event. After all its just a night out.... its our aim to provide a night that you all enjoy!

Its not rocket science, we know what music people want to hear, we know what atmosphere is needed. From the dj's to the light show, from the mc's to the fun fair we've tried to put together a complete package that will suit most ravers.

The music policy is varied, its not all hardcore... its dance music.... makina, hardcore, techno, old skool etc. We've chose a mixture of dj's and mc's that will appeal to everyone....

Comments and suggestions on dj's / mc's for future events are welcome....

I know what you mean mate, they can play some good hard trance style stuff too... i've got a mix of them from helter skelter and its banging & bouncy.. Energy often drops old German stuff too which goes down a storm n the North East.... as long as they didnt do any weird, breakbeaty type freeform im sure they would be fine.

IMO He's basicly gonna be playing a set infront of a half full venue when realy he should be on around 10-11 or 11-12.

I'm well aware that this is prolly due to Scott's other commitments on Saturday night but for me he is deffo the highlite of the night.

Well The Events Been And Gone. Wasnt The Best Night Ive Been To But I Dont Agree With All The Slagging Off On The Guestbook.

At Least Jaz Promotions Have Done What They Said. All The Artists Turned Up, Nice Little Touches Like The Sexy Dancers. Laser Show And Lights Were Good. You Could See A Bit Of Effort Had Gone Into It And You Cant Moan At That.

Ok The Kids Prefer Spanish To Hardcore But Thats Just A Northeast Thing. Respect To The Organisers For Attempting To Give Us Something Different.

The Other Promoters Want To Sit Up And Take Note Instead Of Jumpin On The Bandwagon To Dis The Night. Id Prefer To Go There Again Than Some Other Northeast Nights I Wont Mention.

I Hope There Is Tapes Comin Out Because The Djs Still Did The Biz :d

jaz promotions
5th April 2004, 04:16 AM
Yeah, as ive said in previous messages it was better than people are making out on the guestbook. We set everyones expectations too high.

The production of the whole night was fine. Every DJ & MC turned up and all the attractions. On that aspect we cant be knocked. Unfortunately the numbers let us down, 431 in a 2000 capacity venue doesnt look great. If we had have held it in a club with that line up, hardcore or not, it would have been a night to remember.

The night wasnt a failure by a long way. We made money and proved we can put on a show.

Jay FX
5th April 2004, 10:56 AM
I have got some quality photo's which I think will do the night a whole lot of justice.
Like Jason says everything he promised on the flyers bar 2 people all turned up and played blinda sets.Even if there was only 431 in the atmosphere was still electric and it was good to see some of the dj's rocking the dancefloor after there sets.

I'm sure if its to be done again all the negatives that came out of the night will be turned into positives for the next one.

Bring it on I say :D
