did ya ever go the colo jee? i never went, wish i had like... i was gonna go the venue with a few friends but then i heard it burnt down on the news.. they only fired it cos i was gannin im sure :rolleyes:

lol nah i never went to the colo...had a shit load of tapes wen i was a kid...i was only 14 wen it shut down u see...but i had loadsa wkd tapes...not got them anymore tho cos i lost most of em wen i stopped listenin to hardcore & makina just after the colo shut...i only recently got back into the sound wen i started to get a few makina tunes here and there to mix....then i discovered that there was a whole new world of spanish tunes that i nevr heard before...so i started to get more and more tunes and now im makina untill i die...hahahahha !!!

it seems all raves we get around the stockton area seem to burn down tho...i mean wot the fuck happened @ energize in stockton ?? i think it was open less than a year...and i also heard alot of people sayin it wud be around for a while....less than a year later and its burned down to the ground...never got chance to go thier either...i think it must be somethin in the air around where i live that makes all raves close down just as ur gettin ready to go for the first time !!

to anyone thinkin of opening a rave in stockton....good luck...and i hope u manage to pull it off pretty soon...we need more raves in stockton and middlesbrough...we have powerhouse @ aqua once a month...thats nowhere near enough for me....lets have some new places openin soon !!

i was about 16 when the venue burnt down.. think i'd just left school.. i doubt they'd hav let me in cos im shorter then a garden gnome :p i tried to get a venue in spenny for a rave but they all said no... the ppl at the cube neva even got back to me after i called and emailed a dozen times :(

its a pity energize burn down.. i never went their either but the audio was wicked.. wish i had gone now.. the photos look canny good of inside..

a few of me mates that went the colo said it was hacky inside near the end... one of me mates sat on a seat and got his arse covered in phlem LOL

hahaha yea that sonds like the colo....i had a few older m8s who went and they all say the same...it went right downhill towards the end...but still its not the venue that mad the colo...it was the style & sound of tunes the djs used to play...it was unparralleled at the time and i doubt that we will ever see the likes of those days again... especially since tho colosseum building is now a church...a sad sight to see if u ask me...we dont want the house of god...we want the house of rave....and everything that goes with it....i say kick the god squad out and lets bring back the good old days...rave all night and dont give a fuck what ppl think of you for doin it !!

LOL aye, but it wouldnt b the same now like if it did come back. it'd probably b big a let down. i'd hate to see ne of the dj's that werent there on it cos it'd just turn into another rave where as the original colo was special imo. i would love to see dj's charlie, nrg, morris, selector c, grassfade (er i mean crossfade) and mc westwood and mc fresh back behind the dex and hand on mic (heh) at a colo nite tho

Blue Monkey re-opened (different owners, etc) burned down.......ooooh..1997?

The Collosseum in Norton was NEVER a patch on the original BLUE MONKEY.........never!!

Each to their own I suppose and I'm biased toward the Venue as I worked there, but to me the atmosphere was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the Collo' ever was!!
