if u take a look at the link below u will find some video tutorials on how to mix n scratch by the master... DJ Sy
just click the link then enter the site and find the video section... then have a look for mixing tips...there shud be 3 videos... i think 1 is beat matching....1 is mixing technique... and the last 1 is scratchin... they all nice n easy to understand...and the bonus is that u can watch sy doin it as he explains it all...good for beginners...
hope that helps a bit....shud be a bit better than just reading text that someone has typed ;)

The way i learned was by playing two bass x - hardcore disco and getting them both the same playing.Thats one way of learning the other is to nod your head to the track thats playing and tap your foot/feet to the record your listening to in the headphones.Once you get the drift of it keep playing the same records as you will get more used to it and just keep practising. Then after youve learned how to beat match try and to the same thing but when the breakdown/build up`s on and listen to the rhythm and get to know your records inside out and the mixes will just come straight to you.
I hope this helps

buy a beat counter..........i know it sounds daft but it works....
you connect it to your mixer and it counts the beats showing on a digital display.....then you just use the pitch till the other digital display reading is the same yhen you simply drop your tune in the mix and the beats should match................they are 99 quid at www.decks.co.uk.
in the search area type bpm counter and it should come up...
happy mixin
