aye am pretty much sure theres no monitors or out to help the dj's lk cuz av listen to a few sets from there and all the gud djs hav been doin slips n slides all ova, just listening to halmans set now and a few of his mixes were drifting and a nah for a fact he can mix bang on from lk monkey sets n tht, must piss ya rite off playing in a club when the sound systems not set up properly for djing

i just tried to keep my mixes short and sweet and not compliate them,

if i used just the headphones which i wasnt used it, it might have been even worse then just trying, it keep it very simple even just having 2 bar mixes where possible, better than doing a long mix with the beats all over

aye, i can use both ways lk put prefer monitors, its a handy skill if ya can get to grips with it, some people cant seem to define a track through the headphones when there playing together, wich is canny mad imo

Most of that Techs mixes wernt good like

God knows what Rubouy is going to think when he goes. . . .might be ok if he's using cd's because they never jumped!


But the crowd as always was excellent and the atmosphere was electric. . . . . .shame the lads that are getting booked to play cant do their stuff, which kind of defeats the object. but normal nightclubs are set up for normal nighclubbers bopping about 2 beyonce etc, not for dj's/mc's.

Archaos was a miles better venue.
This venue is good like but its too small for the ammount of people that get in.
Getting a drink at bar is a nightmare and theres no room to move.
Atmosphere in there is mint tho.

i've heard alot of djs complaining about the setup over there after they've finished mixing. I think that if ya have a problem with the setup, don't mix there. Tell them that ya not gonna mix at their event until they get monitors, if they tell you that they've got them but when you arrive they haven't. Then once again just don't mix there. If the djs stood up for themselves and were stubborn about what they thought was essential in a dj box it might just get sorted.

the setup at archaos wasnt great either. i've played at archaos a few times (not just dimensional) and theres never been monitors, you really struggle to hear what your doing. I did the studio a couple of weeks back and the sound wasnt great behind the decks, plus the mc's were coming through my headphones! i dont think you can criticise any of the dj's playing there for mixing etc cos it really is difficult.. cant fault the night itself tho the atmosphere is the best going... electric! the durham students union is the best ive played in.. has amazing monitors, fuckin massive, crystal clear and right behind you. I like to feel the music as well when im playing, so its important for me to have a nice loud, clear setup behind the decks.
